Flux treats your prompt as a spec, not a suggestion. Describe exactly what you want. Stop piling on 'hyperrealistic, 8K, masterpiece' filler. That noise made SDXL obey. It makes Flux confused.
Flux is the first open image model that renders legible text cleanly. Put on-image copy in quotes, keep it short, and describe where it lives in the frame. A poster, a sign, a book cover all work well.
Schnell is 4-step fast, dev is 20-50 step quality, pro is hosted top-tier, and ultra enables 4MP high frequency output. The generator outputs a variant tuned to each so you paste the right prompt into the right model.

Why is Flux different from Stable Diffusion or Midjourney?+
Flux was built by the team behind the original Stable Diffusion. Its big shift is prompt adherence. Where SDXL and Midjourney often reinterpret a prompt, Flux tries to render exactly what you describe. That changes how you prompt it. You can drop the quality boosters, stop stacking weighted keywords, and write closer to natural language.
What is the difference between Flux dev, schnell, and pro?+
Flux schnell is the fastest open-weights variant and runs in 4 steps. Flux dev is higher quality, also open-weights, and runs in 20 to 50 steps. Flux 1.1 [pro] is the hosted commercial model with the best quality, and Flux 1.1 [pro] ultra supports 4 megapixel output with high frequency detail. The generator gives you separate formats tuned to each.
Does Flux handle text in images better than SDXL?+
Yes. Flux renders legible, letter accurate text in a way SDXL struggles with. That is why the generator has a dedicated on-image text field. Put the copy in quotes, keep it short, and Flux will integrate it into the composition. For very long signs or paragraphs you still want a two pass workflow with a text rendering step.
Do I still need negative prompts with Flux?+
Not really. Flux does not use a separate negative conditioning input the way SDXL does. If you want to exclude something, describe the scene positively in a way that makes the exclusion natural. Write what you want rather than what you do not want.
What does prompt adherence mean in the controls?+
It maps to how literally you want Flux to follow your wording. High adherence tells the model to treat your prompt as a spec. Balanced lets it fill in gaps. Loose treats your text as a mood cue rather than an instruction. For product shots and brand imagery pick High. For dreamy art pick Loose.
Why are there three variants instead of one?+
Flux schnell rewards short natural prose. Flux pro rewards structured section headers. Flux 1.1 [pro] ultra rewards a more technical framing that invites the 4MP high frequency detail mode. Each variant is tuned to the model tier that handles it best so you can paste the right version into the right interface.
Can I use Flux prompts with ComfyUI and Fooocus?+
Yes. The prompts are plain text, so they drop into ComfyUI, Fooocus, Forge, and hosted APIs like Replicate, Fal, and Together. For ComfyUI workflows that expose a CLIP L and T5 encoder split, paste the structured variant into both and the text stays consistent.
Does Flux replace Midjourney for creative work?+
For photoreal scenes and typography Flux often beats Midjourney. For painterly, stylized, or fantasy illustration Midjourney is still stronger out of the box. Many teams use both. Start with the Flux prompt for concept fidelity, then regenerate in Midjourney if you need a more stylized look.
