ChatGPT Prompt Templates (Copy-Paste Pack)
Ten briefs you can reuse. Each one is a user message for a single job. Fill the brackets with material you have, delete a line you cannot fill, and check the result before you send it.

What this pack is for
A prompt template is a form. The value is the slot, not a clever sentence. ChatGPT fills an empty slot with something that sounds finished. That is useful when you wanted a draft from real notes. It is a defect when the slot was a number, a citation, or a promise you had not made.
Use one template per chat. A content brief, a resume bullet, and a coding diff are different contracts. Pasting all three teaches the model to smooth them into one voice. When the same role and the same refusal rules should survive the next chat, move those lines to a ChatGPT system prompt and keep the template for the material that changes.
The pages under each template are the long version of that job. This pack stays reusable on purpose. It will not replace a source ledger, a pull-request review, or a measured room.
How to fill a variable
| You have | Put in the blank | Do not |
|---|---|---|
| A fact you can point at | The fact, short, with its label | Ask the model to look it up |
| Nothing for that line | NONE, or delete the line | Leave [brackets] in the message |
| A number you will not share | A rounded figure, and say it is rounded | Paste the raw file |
| A decision you have not made | DECISION NEEDED | Hope the draft decides for you |
Read the fill note before you paste. The note says which blank is required. A template with the required blank deleted is a different prompt, and the output will wander.
Copy-paste templates
Each card is one job. The fill note is the instruction to you. The monospace block is the message to ChatGPT. The links are the deeper guide when this blank is not enough.
Content
Content brief from notes you already have
How to fill the variables. Required: reader, job of the piece, and one source note you can stand behind. Drop the example line if you have no sample of your voice. Do not ask this template to research the topic.
Write a content brief, not the full piece. Reader: [who, and what they already know] Job of the piece: [what the reader should be able to do or decide] Angle: [the point only this piece makes] Source notes I can use: [paste labelled notes, or NONE] Voice sample: [paste 3 sentences you wrote, or NONE] Length: [words or sections] Do not add: [claims, offers, or topics that are off limits] Return: a title, the promise of the piece, H2s in order, the note that supports each H2, and questions I still have to answer. Write MISSING if a section has no note. Do not invent statistics, quotes, or sources.

Repurpose one approved draft
How to fill the variables. Required: the draft you already approved, and the new format. Name what must stay true. This template does not create a new claim. It moves a claim you already checked.
Repurpose the approved draft below. Do not add facts. New format: [email, social post, outline, or short script] Reader of the new format: [who] Must stay true: [the claim, the number, or the offer that cannot change] Cut: [what does not belong in this format] <draft> [paste the approved piece] </draft> Return the new version, a list of sentences you cut, and any line that would change the claim if I kept it. If the draft does not support the new format, say NOT SUPPORTED.

Reply that stays inside the note you paste
How to fill the variables. Required: the message you are answering, and the decision you have already made. If you have not decided, write DECISION NEEDED and do not let the model offer a refund, date, or exception.
Draft a reply. Voice: [plain, warm, brief]. Maximum [120] words. Decision I have made: [what I will do, or DECISION NEEDED] Facts I can state: [dates, amounts, next step, or NONE] Do not offer: [refunds, discounts, dates, or exceptions I have not approved] <incoming> [paste the email] </incoming> Return the reply, the assumption you had to make, and the sentence I should delete if that assumption is wrong. Do not invent a policy.

Resume
Rewrite a bullet from a real accomplishment
How to fill the variables. Required: the job target and one accomplishment in your own words. If you do not have a number, write NO METRIC. Never let the template add an employer, a tool, or a result you did not do.
Rewrite this resume bullet for [job title]. Accomplishment, in my words: [what I did, for whom, with what constraint] Metric I can prove: [number and source, or NO METRIC] Tools I actually used: [list, or NONE] Keywords from the posting I truly match: [list] Return two bullets under 28 words. Mark any word that was not in my notes. Do not add employers, dates, degrees, or outcomes. If the posting asks for something I did not do, write DO NOT CLAIM.

Coding
One coding change with a check
How to fill the variables. Required: the file or function, the behavior, and the command you will run. Delete the error block if there is no error. This template asks for a small diff. It does not review a pull request.
You are helping me change code I will read before I accept it. Language and framework: [what this repo uses] File or function: [path] Change: [the behavior] Leave untouched: [functions, files, or public names] Check I will run: [test or command] <error> [paste the exact error, or NONE] </error> <snippet> [paste the relevant code] </snippet> Show the smallest change, why it works, and one input that should fail before the change. Do not refactor unrelated code. If you need a file I did not paste, say NEED FILE and stop.

Business
Monday note from figures you paste
How to fill the variables. Required: the reader and the figures. Round or redact anything sensitive. This is an operating note, not a business plan. Debt totals belong on the debt page, not in this note.
Turn these figures into a Monday note for [team or reader]. Date range: [period] Decision already made: [paste, or NONE] Ask I need from them: [one question] <figures> [metric, value, comparison period] </figures> Structure: what changed, what is on track, what needs a decision, and the question. Write MISSING beside any figure you cannot see. Do not invent causes, forecasts, targets, or a recommendation to spend money.

Data
One data question with the working shown
How to fill the variables. Required: what one row means, the column names, and the question. Include a total you already know if you have one. Do not paste a full customer file into a consumer chat.
Answer one question about this table. Show the working. One row is one: [order, day, customer, or other grain] Columns, using the header text: [list] Question: [the comparison or total I need] Known total I can recompute: [number, or NONE] Sample rows: [paste a few redacted rows] Return the answer, the rows or formula that produced it, and the assumption you made. If a column is missing, write MISSING COLUMN. Do not invent a category or a rate.

Studying
Quiz me from my notes and hold the answer
How to fill the variables. Required: the topic and notes or a source you will check. Tell it to wait. If the job is a paper you will submit, use the academic pages instead of this quiz.
Tutor me on [topic]. Use only the notes below. <notes> [paste notes, or say I will check your explanation against the textbook] </notes> Ask one question. Wait for my answer. After I answer, mark it, quote the note that decides the mark, and ask the next question. Do not write an essay, a lab report, or the assignment. If the notes do not contain the answer, say NOT IN NOTES.

Meetings
Minutes from notes, with no invented owners
How to fill the variables. Required: the notes or transcript excerpt, and who may appear as an owner. If a task has no name in the notes, the template must say UNASSIGNED. Do not paste a meeting you were not allowed to record.
Draft minutes from the notes below. Do not add decisions that are not in the notes. Meeting: [name and date] Attendees I can name: [list] Audience for the minutes: [team] <notes> [paste] </notes> Return: decisions, action rows (task, owner, date, or UNASSIGNED), and open questions. Quote the note for each decision. If the notes are ambiguous, write UNCLEAR instead of guessing.

Academic
Audit one paragraph against notes you labelled
How to fill the variables. Required: a paragraph you wrote and notes with source labels. This template does not search the literature. If you need a source ledger, a long-draft edit, or a file upload, use the academic leaves linked here.
Audit this paragraph. Do not rewrite it yet. <paragraph> [paste] </paragraph> <notes> [source label, page or section, claim] </notes> For each sentence, say: claim, note that supports it, or UNSUPPORTED. Flag any word that makes the claim stronger than the note (proves, always, clearly). Do not add sources, quotations, or page numbers. End with the single sentence I should fix first.

Pictures are not a text template
A room photo and a building study need an image brief, a camera, and a list of what must stay put. Do not force them through the content template. Restyle a room you can photograph with Gemini prompts for interior design. Study massing, materials, and a camera with Gemini prompts for architectural rendering. Measure before you buy or build. This pack will not do that measurement.

ChatGPT prompt template FAQ
What is a ChatGPT prompt template?
A template is a reusable brief with blanks. You replace each bracket with material you already have, then send it as the user message for one job. It is not a standing instruction. If the same role and rules should apply to every chat, put those in a system prompt and keep this template for the task.
How do I fill the variables?
Replace every [bracket]. If you do not have that fact, delete the line or write NONE. Do not leave the word in brackets, or ChatGPT will invent a plausible stand-in. The note under each template says which blank is required and which blank you can drop.
How is this different from a ChatGPT system prompt?
These templates are the message for one task: the notes, the numbers, the draft. A system prompt is the standing rule for role, constraints, and output format. Use the system prompt page when you want that rule to persist. Use a template here when you are ready to paste this week's material.
Can one template cover academic writing, debt, or a room photo?
No. A generic writing template will flatten a paper, invent a balance, or describe a room it cannot see. Academic drafts, listed debts, and photo jobs have their own pages, linked under the matching template. Start there when the risk is a citation, a dollar figure, or an image.
Should I paste private files into a template?
Paste the smallest excerpt that makes the answer checkable. Leave out secrets, full customer lists, payroll, unpublished participant data, and contracts your workplace does not allow in a consumer chat. Use an approved workspace when you have one. You still check the result before you send or submit it.
