Is Claude free in 2026?Yes. The free plan gives access to Claude Sonnet 4.6 (the default model), plus Artifacts, chat memory, basic web search, and file uploads. It does not include Claude Code, Research mode, or the top Opus and Fable models, which are on Pro.Is Claude Pro worth $20 a month?For regular users, yes: Pro unlocks the top Opus model, Claude Code, Research mode, and roughly 5x the free usage limits for $20. Which Claude model should I use: Fable 5, Opus, Sonnet, or Haiku?Sonnet 4.6 is the best all-round default (fast, capable, great value). Opus 4.8 for the hardest reasoning and coding. Fable 5 for the very hardest long, agentic work. Haiku 4.5 for speed and simple tasks. Most people should default to Sonnet and escalate only when needed.Can I use Claude Fable 5 on Claude.ai, and on which plan?Yes. After returning online on July 1, 2026, Fable 5 is selectable on Claude.ai on paid plans (Pro and above) via the model picker, and also available in Claude Code, the API, and on AWS Bedrock. Free users do not get Fable 5.Claude Opus vs Sonnet: which is better for me?Sonnet 4.6 is the value pick and handles most coding, writing, and analysis at lower cost and latency, scoring within about a point of Opus on coding. Opus 4.8 is worth it for the hardest, highest-stakes tasks. Default to Sonnet, escalate to Opus when needed.
