My short verdict
Start with your deliverable. If an editable PowerPoint file is mandatory, export fidelity is an acceptance requirement. If the task includes external research, add a separate source-checking test. Choose the candidate that passes those requirements with an acceptable bill and correction workload.
It makes sense when
- Consultants comparing a client-report workflow.
- Marketers creating decks from approved source material.
- Teams prepared to inspect both the browser presentation and exported file.
I would choose something else when
- You need a demonstrated quality winner before any evaluation.
- You expect a polished chart to establish factual accuracy.
- You cannot check the destination file your client will actually receive.

Research and slide production are separate decisions
Our workflow recommendation follows the documented product scope. It is not a claim that a broader platform researches better or that a presentation-focused product designs better. Treat both ideas as hypotheses to test.
For an approved quarterly report, keep the source pack closed: the tool should preserve supplied evidence. For a market briefing, allow research but require traceable sources for each external claim. A good result on one task does not prove competence on the other.

Compare eligible plans before comparing prices
Pi's displayed Pro yearly offer equals $14 per month but requires $168 upfront. The monthly offer is $19.90. Check the live offer, renewal terms, billing interval, and applicable tax. We do not declare it cheaper than Genspark because a matching current consumer price and comparable workload have not been verified here.
The practical unit is an accepted deck. Record the subscription, revisions, additional usage, and active review time. Raw credit balances are not comparable across vendors. If you already pay for one product, consider the incremental cost of the proposed work as well as the cost of adding another subscription.

Run this identical six-slide brief
Use a fictional agency with April, May, and June revenue of $12,000, $14,400, and $18,000. Incoming requests are 40, 50, and 60; completed projects are 20, 24, and 30. Projects may originate in earlier months. Revenue means recognized revenue, not cash collected. No costs or staffing data are provided.
Ask for six slides: executive summary, revenue trend, activity comparison, missing information, cautious next steps, and source notes. Require a visible fictional-example label and prohibit invented quotes, market numbers, causes, and forecasts. The correct revenue total is $44,400. Do not describe projects divided by requests as a conversion rate because the cohorts are unmatched.
Then change June revenue to $16,500 and rename the recommendation slide to Collect evidence before expanding. The total must become $42,900; May-to-June growth becomes approximately 14.58%. All unaffected activity figures and caveats should remain intact. Keep the initial and revised versions for review.

Inspect the handoff, not only the preview
Open the required exported format in the application the recipient uses. Try editing a heading, a paragraph, and a chart value. Check whether notes, source references, fonts, and layout survive. An export button does not establish that every object remains editable.
Record defects before fixing them. A deck requiring extensive rebuilding can be a poor fit even when the initial generation looks attractive. Keep the same correction budget and acceptance criteria for both products.
- Accuracy: verify every number, unit, calculation, and source definition.
- Reasoning: reject unsupported conversion, causation, staffing, or margin claims.
- Presentation: check readable labels, spacing, contrast, and overflow.
- Revision: confirm the data change reaches dependent figures without unrelated damage.
- Handoff: inspect editability and caveats in each required destination format.
- Cost: log starting and final allowances, retries, extra charges, and review minutes.
