What most guides leave out
Reviewed conversations are kept separately
Google documents that conversations selected for human review are retained separately, for up to three years, and are not deleted when you delete your Gemini Apps Activity. Treat anything you type into Gemini as potentially readable by a person.
Turning the setting off does not delete the past
Switching Gemini Apps Activity off stops new conversations being saved. Everything already stored stays until you explicitly delete it, so do both.
Deleting the app changes nothing
Your Gemini history is attached to your Google Account, not the phone. Uninstalling the app leaves every stored conversation exactly where it was.

Does deleting Gemini chats remove them from Google entirely?
Not necessarily. Deleting removes conversations from your activity, but Google documents that chats selected for human review are stored separately for up to three years and are not covered by that deletion. Assume anything sensitive you typed may persist.
How do I stop Gemini saving my conversations in the first place?
Turn off Gemini Apps Activity at myactivity.google.com. New conversations stop being saved to your account from then on. Delete the existing history separately, because turning the setting off is not retroactive.
Can I set Gemini to delete chats automatically?
Yes. Gemini Apps Activity supports auto-delete on a chosen retention window, after which older activity is removed for you. It is the most reliable option because it does not depend on you remembering.
Is deleting Gemini chats the same as disabling Gemini?
No, they are separate. Deleting chats clears history while Gemini keeps working. Disabling Gemini removes it as your phone assistant but leaves your stored conversations untouched until you delete them as well.
