01 · Basics

What Jev is

Jev is best thought of as a smart decision step inside software, not an assistant.

What is Jev AI?

A decision-making AI model from TypeSafe AI. Given a state and your questions, it returns a typed answer with a confidence level that your system can act on. It does not generate text or images and you cannot chat with it.

What is a System One model?

TypeSafe's term for fast, instinctive decision models, by analogy with System One thinking, as opposed to slower, deliberate System Two reasoning used by large language models.

What kinds of questions can Jev answer?

Three types: yes/no questions scored from 0 to 1, scores against a rubric you define, and choices between options you provide. Each comes with probabilities and a confidence level.

02 · Uses

What Jev is good for

Jev fits decisions you make thousands of times a week.

What can I use Jev for?

Routing messages or tasks, choosing which LLM should handle a request, labelling large datasets, checking AI outputs, blocking unsafe actions, and branching steps in workflows.

How much does Jev cost?

Zapier reports $0.042 per million input tokens, with output so cheap it is not metered, plus $5 of free credits each month. Check TypeSafe's API documentation for current terms.

How do I start using Jev?

Through TypeSafe's API: send a JSON request with your state and questions. Anyone who can call an API can use it, including via generic API steps in automation tools.

03 · Limits

Limitations

Jev's structure is reliable; its judgments still need checking.

Can Jev hallucinate?

It always returns the same structured format, so it will not invent free text, but its decisions can still be wrong; Zapier reports 67.8% accuracy in its testing. Inputs with numbers or double negatives are harder.

Can Jev process images or audio?

No, only text. Convert audio, images or video to text descriptions first.

Is Jev a replacement for ChatGPT or Claude?

No. It cannot write, explain its reasoning or work through multi-step problems. It complements LLMs by handling the fast decisions around them.
