Free ChatGPT Plus does not exist
There is no promo code, generator, modded app or giveaway that grants Plus. Sites offering it are collecting OpenAI logins to resell, harvesting card details, or installing something unpleasant. OpenAI does not distribute free Plus through third parties.
Watch out for lookalike apps and sites
App stores and search results carry paid imitations charging a subscription for access to the free tier. The official product is at chatgpt.com and published by OpenAI. Check the publisher name before installing anything.
Students should check official routes only
Where genuine discounted or sponsored access exists, it comes from OpenAI or from your institution, not from a third-party site. Ask your university IT department and check OpenAI's own announcements rather than trusting an offer found in a search result.
Free tier chats may help train future models
Whether your conversations are used to improve models is governed by your data settings, which you can change. If that matters to you, open Data controls rather than assuming the default is what you would prefer.
