01 · What it is

What TurboScribe does

Upload a file, get an accurate transcript in minutes.

What is TurboScribe?

TurboScribe is an online transcription service. You upload an audio or video file, or paste a YouTube link, and it returns a transcript you can read, edit, search and export. It is powered by Whisper, OpenAI's open speech recognition model, and adds speaker labels, translation, subtitles and an interface for managing many files. It accepts most formats, including MP3, MP4, M4A, MOV, WAV, FLAC, MKV and WEBM.

How accurate is TurboScribe?

TurboScribe claims 99.8% accuracy, which is a vendor figure for clear recordings. Real accuracy depends on audio quality, accents, crosstalk and jargon, as with any Whisper-based tool. For a clean single-speaker recording you can expect very few corrections; for a noisy multi-speaker meeting, plan to proofread names and technical terms.

Does TurboScribe identify different speakers?

Yes. Speaker recognition labels each section of the transcript with who is speaking, which you can then rename. It works best when speakers do not talk over each other.

02 · Pricing

TurboScribe pricing and limits

One free tier, one paid tier, no per-minute meter.

How much does TurboScribe cost?

TurboScribe Free costs nothing and allows 3 transcriptions a day, each up to 30 minutes, one file at a time. TurboScribe Unlimited costs $10 a month when billed yearly, which is $120 a year, or $20 a month billed monthly. Unlimited removes the daily cap, raises the file limit to 10 hours and 5 GB, allows 50 uploads at once and adds bulk exports and translation.

Is TurboScribe really unlimited?

There is no per-minute or per-hour charge and the pricing page lists no monthly cap, which is unusual in a market where most services bill by the audio hour. The limits that do apply are per file (10 hours, 5 GB) and per batch (50 files). A subscription is for one person and is not meant to be shared.

Is the TurboScribe free plan enough?

It is enough to test quality or transcribe the occasional short recording: up to 90 minutes a day across three files. It is not enough for regular work, because files are capped at 30 minutes, uploads are one at a time and processing runs at lower priority.

How do I transcribe a file with TurboScribe?

TurboScribe processes the file in minutes. Open the transcript to read and correct it, then export as DOCX, PDF, TXT or CSV. On the free plan, keep each file under 30 minutes.

Can I transcribe a YouTube video with TurboScribe?

Yes. TurboScribe lists YouTube as a supported source alongside uploaded files, so you can paste a link instead of downloading the video first. Only transcribe videos you have the right to use, and check the platform's terms if you plan to republish the text.

04 · Verdict

Safety, alternatives and who it is for

Great value for volume, with a few gaps.

Is TurboScribe safe and private?

TurboScribe says your files and transcripts are stored encrypted and that only you have access to your data. As with any cloud service, avoid uploading recordings you are not permitted to share, such as confidential client calls, without checking your organization's policy and TurboScribe's terms first.

TurboScribe vs Descript: which should I use?

They do different jobs. TurboScribe is for getting text out of recordings cheaply and in bulk. Descript is a full video and podcast editor that also transcribes, with plans from $16 a month billed yearly but only 10 media hours on its entry plan. If you need transcripts, choose TurboScribe; if you need to edit and publish the media, choose Descript.

What are the best TurboScribe alternatives?

For human-verified transcripts where accuracy is critical, services such as Rev charge per minute, around $1.99 a minute for human transcription. For transcripts that never leave your computer, you can run Whisper locally with free open-source apps. For editing, Descript. For live meeting notes rather than uploaded files, a meeting note-taker is a better fit.

Who should use TurboScribe?

Journalists, researchers, students, podcasters and anyone else with large batches of long recordings, such as interviews, lectures, sermons or focus groups. With 57 million hours transcribed, it is a proven tool; at $120 a year it pays for itself after a few hours of audio compared with per-minute services.
